PRAY FOR RAIN.

Poem Artwork

The blue sky,
familiar in its monotony,
stretches forever;
not a cloud mars its clarity.
The grass is
brittle, razor-sharp reminders of
continuing drought;
not a drop of rain feeds its thirst.
The burning
embers from one fire dance on the
wind and start new ones;
perpetuating the cycle.

Your poem is an excellent portrait of the Texas landscape, Karla. Time for that nekkid dance? LOL

This is alive with the snap, crackle and pop of that unyielding heat, Karla... it fizzles along the lines and airwaves and I can sense the tension. I can feel for you in this... reminds me of a hot flush! :)) However, when we have one thing endlessly, we can scarcely remember what it's like to have another... hmmmm... grey skies, dreary fogs and sleet... not a kind swap, I don't think, so hang on in there until that fist of cloud brings some sweet honey rain of a more refreshing order! If you could bottle it however, I'd order a crate-load... LOL K xx

Seasonal failure is too bad. The sky remains as naked as a newly-born baby while the earth burns with the scorching heat. When such situations happen in my country, we all come out to pray for rain but allah accepts the collective prayer of people who are clean in the heart and have no enemity among themselves. So sometimes our prayers are not accepted. Anyway I join in prayers with open and sincere heart.

Some aspects of weather conditions can get monotonous, drought certainly can. But within such monotony there's always a poem, and a poet ready to capture the activity within innactivity as you just did. Good job, Karla.

I think the rain Gods may hear the prayer of this poem and send the much needed showers.
