Last measurable precipitation was May 9, 2006. No rain expected, just sunny, hot and humid conditions.

Poem Artwork

the ground yawns,
gaps w  i  d  e
open, so
deep one
can smell its
foetid
breath and see
its dark
heart beating;
the grass turns
to chalk
as the sun
once more
strangles the
south in
a tight noose ...
death has
a chokehold;
the sky writhes
in pain,
cries silver'd
tears in
lightning's flash
and roar
of thunder:
healing in the rain.
i hope it's
not too late ...
pray for rain.

Seems like feast or famine where you live in Texas, Karla. I pray for nature to express itself in a more balanced way for you.

You certainly brought this home to me, Karla, and the images are gaunt and intense. Can feel both that noose and that parchedness. I am sorry for all my complainin about the rain back here... looks like we are having YOUR share as well. This write is sharp as greased lightning. Well done and I pray the healing comes soon... LOL Kate xx

Such great images, brings back memories of the oppresive yet tranquil heat of Texas, just prior to a blaster of a storm...
Hope the healing rain, rains soon..

This is cleverly written with great imagery Karla. Superb job! We're in a drought too. Kinda sucks, but when it begins to rain, it's going to go nuts and not know when to quit. Love, Michelle

Ah, back to drought conditions, I see. Cheer up Karla, maybe the next hurricane will get up there and drop some on ya. I'm sorry, just kidding around. Actually it's a bit dry here in the swamp also.

Goodness gracious Karla Texans have weather that does go from one extreme to the othern My father, who was a Texan...said Texas always does things in a big way and I guess nature plays along. I will pray for you all to have rain soon. Be careful when it comes because of the vortex that spins out of rain storms.
Love and peace,
Susan
