Nothing stops an avid, rabid reader. :)

Poem Artwork

The night, as black
as bears, as dark
as dark can be,
make deeper with
lack of power.

Candlelight is
hard to read books
by; the only
light coming in
is from lightning.

Nothing to do
but sit back and
watch the anvil
crawlers scribbling
across the sky ...

You know you are
addicted when
you resort to
reading poems
penned in the clouds.

(c) 2007, Karla Dorman (6/2)

Great poem, Karla. The lightning in the photo makes a picture of Florida. That must be symbolic of the rain we received here last night and today. LOL (I guess that makes me addicted--"reading poems in the clouds".

Your description of "the night as black as bears" immediately reminded me of James Weldon Johnsons' "Creation" You'd love it if you have not read it. Your writing is filled with joyous imagry.

Thanks,
Dan

Wonderful thoughts here, Karla, and what I love about THESE forms of reading is that they interact with our brain and emotions so much quicker than lumpy written words on a page, which are often slow and lugubrious to express the quintessential "thing"... much like my reviews! :)) In an instant you get the whole story here... and only YOU know what it is saying! I think it's saying "Ya-boo, Karla, here I am trying to scare you.. but I ain't getting too far cos you is down there, reading me thoughts..."!! :)) LOL K xx

What a wonderful write my friend, we are cut from the same cloth...when our electric went out the last time, I too found myself readng by candle light! Great write, nothing wrong with being addicted to writing, the world is falling apart, and many are dieing from other addictions. So, I say our type of addiction is okay! You keep reading and writing my friend, as I will too...it's our destiny! Enjoyed!
Blessings,
Joyce B.
