A very unique analogy in this piece, Karla. I've never experienced a tornado or any big storm in my life before, but you have captivated my feelings with your verses that made me a little scared in the thought that I might be a target of 'her' wrath. Great write, my good friend!
Alot of emotion in your write, the weather has been crazy as of late hasnt it, my prayer too is with all who have been touched by the fury of the storms
God Bless

Oh, I'm with you on this, Karla! You know, if we survive long enough we'll (our weather technicians) be able to predict with accuracy what the effect of the flapping of a butterfly's wings over Jakarta will have on Arkansas or Tennessee, etc. But 'til then, we'll have to take the good with joy and tremble in a ditch when the bad is upon us.
The ever present duality of life!Superb analogy in this one Karla!
I've been praying and crying while watching the devastation. Feels like a Katrina moment...Take care
Karla, you said it so well but, "I" don't see much beauty in stormy weather.
I lived in Xenia, Ohio in 1976 when a tornado (twins--one top at first with two tails and then the separated) touched down 200' to the rear of our house. I saw it out our back door--my son and his dad were on their way out; I stopped them. Thirty-two people died, Xenia was devasted.
Years later, out of the corner of my eye, I saw another BIGGIE when we were on the interstate in Kentucky ... heading back to Ohio. I made my husband pull over to the side of the road -- if we'd been on the bridge ???
It is extremely rare to have tornados in Oregon--I LOVE living here :)!
You are always in my prayers. Be aware, be safe, and may God's hand protect you and others in harms' way.
Sandy
Great poem, Karla. I love how well you have captured both sides of weather... the gentle and kind side, as well as the unpredictable and scary side. I especially love the last stanza though. hee, hee...
It made me laugh.
Explore the mystery of how nature makes unexpected gifts of creative wonders to an unsuspecting caregiver one late night and early morning in southeastern Georgia, USA.
well done Karla...
