The latest forecast track brings Ike to North Central Texas by the weekend. Winds up to 45 miles per hour; flooding rains; even the possibility of tornadoes.
... not my cup of tea. ....

Poking his wind driven nose where
it doesn't belong, Hurricane Ike ---
sniffing this way and that way, he
thinks, should I stay here? Go up the pike
to Texas? Perhaps I'll go there;
a certain StormSpinner might be glad
to see me. Didn't say that, Ike.
If he does, the weather might get bad:
four to eight inches of rain at
the minimum; high winds, tornadoes ...
not my cup of tea. Wish he'd just
dissolve, go where dead hurricanes go.
well now you know... and it sometimes takes some time for hurricanes to die over-land where they do eventually but often cause more trouble. In retropspect this one (IKE) was impressive to say the least! Hopefully we'll learn from him, as hurricanes will always be a-coming!
Mother Nature is surely angry with all of us. We are going to see many more storms, so put on your thinking cap and get prepared...
Awesome poem, as always,

To be facing The Big One--repeatedly--must be working on your one good nerve! (And I can barely thing about Haiti, so poor, so eroded, so over-populated, drowning in mudslides and garbage filled storm-rivers, over and again.) Take care, and good luck with the latest unwanted visitor. In your latitudes, things get darn serious darn quick.
Oh I don't know, if it should come in Category 12 with speeds of 900 miles per hour, think of the beach front property we could all have. Just kidding, just kidding, no not looking forward to this hurricane nor the influx of people from the coastal regions. Love your sentiments....
It looks like Ike and his brothers and sisters have a real
affection for Texas. Hope all goes well out thataway. In the
meantime, Karla, there's always Ohio. -gene.
Oh, you poor thing, I know Ike's doing a job on you. Let's pray he just fizzles out. Be safe my friend. Love, Bonnie

Hmmmm ... like Ed said ... where DO dead hurricanes go? Do you suppose there are hurricane ghosts? Maybe Katrina and Rita are still lurking in a French Quarter alley - spying on Mayor Nagin :-)
Just as long as they don't chase the StormSpinner (or ME), I'll be happy!! LOL Hurricanes (or in THIS case, HIMacanes) are NOT anything to mess with, no matter what "sex" they are!! LOL GREAT write, hope Ike leaaves us alone! Don't mind the rain; we DON'T need the severe to go along with it! Very well penned; love the humor! (And I don't mind your borrowing one of my lines! :) )
