Probably be the last you see of Karen and me this weekend, due to Hurricane (Y)Ike! Tropical force winds; heavy rain; maybe a rogue tornado (PRAY NOT!!) or two due in by morning, continuing all through Saturday and into Sunday morning.
Soooo glad I'm not on the coast.

...on his way, Hurricane Ike. His
edge peeks over the horizon,
bringing fear along with those who
have left in advance of the storm.
More expected. Already pounding
the coast with wave and wind ...
Galveston. Water over the seawall,
exploding high into the air. Oh,
Galveston! We're too far inland to
feel the surge, but our own in the
forecast: up to eight inches of wet;
flash flood watches in anticipation.
Wind: hurricane force as close as
one county south; tropical, here
and elsewhere. 800 miles a c r o s s.
Lot of storm before it's done: pray.
Well, if you were on the coast, you wouldn't be there long, you'd be blown inland...I was watching the weather channel and the guys standing out in it, they look as if they are going to blow away themselves...tie yourselves together and enjoy the big blow...it is Mom Nature at her bestest...Ed & Rufuz

I would feel a lot better if you and Karen were outta that area tonight. This one will take about six hours for the main wind part to blow through. It is (as I write) 11:19 PM here in New Boston. My hotel is full of Ike refugees. The surge part is due to hit Galveston Bay around 2 AM. Our refugees will be up all night watching the CNN Ike coverage. I have CNN-audio playing through my laptop, and it sounds ugly already. My prayers are wrapped all around Karen and you.
I will pray, believe you me!! I pray we get through this in one piece; my FIRST hurricane!! WHEEE!! (Sounds like a barrel of fun--NOT!! LOL) Very well penned; fears/concern very well eveident in taut words! BRAVA!

I've been watching the coverage and praying You and Karen are in a safe place, this looks like it will be horrific,mainly because of the oceans surge, which is very deceptive and can become like a tsunami right before our eyes. I pray God intervenes to weaken it. Please stay in out harms way. My thoughts and prayers are with you!
