My heart is a fire, a flame from hell
in search of a healing, a heavenly well...
My eyes are a floodgate of yesterday’s pain
pursuing perfection and worldly gain...
My mind is cursed by a violent past
overcome by memories certain to last...
I have sought for a healing, I have looked for a balm
I have prayed for deliverance and celestial calm...
But visions of rape hold firm in my mind
haunting, forever, the ultimate crime...
Will liberty come? Will healing be mine?
Will I ever be free of the ultimate crime?
They tell me forgive, they tell me let go,
but they’ve never been pierced,
so how do they know?
Do they dream my dreams?
Do they know my fright?
Do they see the horror I view each night?
Some say it will take nothing more than time
for me to be free of the ultimate crime.
Yet deep inside my fractured soul
lay scars of a night that I only know
a struggle so real, of a stand still time
the night I was cursed by the ultimate crime.
A truly heart wrenching and gut wrenching story Lori
You are so brave and courageous.....I will pray for your release from these demons..God Willing...

Peter

Lori...I can't begin to even try to understand what you are feeling...all I can suggest from one poet to another is when you the feelings come back to haunt you, think about some place happy, think about the unity of authors den...and know this, fo every action there is consequence...your preditor has a lot of bad kamma waiting in the shadows...your mind is yours to control and guide...take care dear poet...Fletcher B
Lori,
What an emotionally and spiritually challenging read, a beautiful well...a spring of release---yours, mine, and a multitude of others. I want you to know that you are bringing healing and restoration to others that would otherwise never find their way. Lori, please know that you are "the only voice" that some will ever get to hear.

You are a very courageous woman and I am convinced that you will someday overcome these demons that haunt you. They will lessen in time and propel you in your unique form of expression. I cannot wait to see what your work would be translated in positive and inspiring subjects. I have no doubt it will have the same impact.

yes, what courage. I unfortunately understand these words you speak. Love yourself and always remember it was not your fault and you are not the one to blame. Experiences in life make you strong or they brake you, let them make you stronger. best of luck to you.

Lori;
I am so glad to see you here, and to see you continue in your writing. It can't be easy, this sharing of self. But in doing so I know you are touching many, many lives and opening many eyes. Thank you.
It was not your fault. Choose not to be a victim anymore. You can overcome it if you keep saying, it was not your fault. Your beauty is nothing to be ashamed of, it was not your fault. We live and learn. Sorry to say but this happens quite often. We must be stronger then the evil! And not all men are bad people. ;)
Great write and powerful, Lori! I like it immensely.

i have been wondering all my life... what could be the ultimate crime... every new pain inflicted will always be the ultimate and the most painful... every pain is looking for vengeance...
This is a terrible curse put on you by someone who will never reach heaven.
Your writing is improving every time I read it. The strength you write from will only lead to success. You use the power in the words to express your emotions from all levels. No person will ever stop the verse from flowing from a mind in free spirit.

I read your poetry and smiled. Smiled? Yes. A very very close friend of mine went through it. I smiled to myself now and said.."How easy she made it to express the feelings". Your words justify your feelings...and this is one special piece of poetry to me because the victim is a part of my life. May Allah bless you and keep writing. It really is the best therapy one undergoes. It makes you realize much more about oneself that we thought we already knew. Looking forward to more of your work and do stay in touch :)
if this happened to you, I am really sorry, for no one should be treated like that. But I think they gave you good advice for in forgiving you find peace.
