Beautiful day lilies; roses in full bloom,
Fragrant summer flowers aplenty,
Their vibrant shades of red and yellow
Tucked into a rich green landscape.
But this veritable kingdom in my backyard,
Pales in your graceful presence!
On soft velvet wings you enter my garden
And I am rooted to the spot,
Like the oaks and maples
Surrounding my beautiful haven.
Hands resting upon my lap,
I remain motionless, waiting.
Magnificent butterfly, you are inspiration incarnate!
On graceful wings you flutter to my side,
Hovering as though unsure.
Before settling upon my hand.
Deeply humbled by your preference,
I am mystified by your decision.
For in my kingdom, teeming with nature’s glory,
You have chosen me!
