Okay, this past winter in eastern Canada was to say the least...rough! Now it's been cold and rainy (very hard most of the time) for nearly 3 weeks....I think Mother Nature is pissed! Hence....this write....giggle...

Poem Artwork

She spoke to them in quiet tones, barely a whisper,
But they ignored her; cast her aside with arrogance
Their ignorant voices raised against all she stood for.
Insufferable creatures, they brutally abused her!
With tolerance, she accepted their cruel indifference
Showering them with her glorious bounty and rare treasures.
And throughout history they continued their destructive ways!
Oblivious to her plight, they destroyed in the name of progress!
Until her once infinite patience, that of a nurturing mother
Finally began to wear thin, and at last she could take no more.
Her demise was inevitable unless she fought back!
She glared at them, and the skies darkened, and the oceans rose up!
Out of control now, she lashed out at them!
Unprecedented floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, and tsunamis ensued!
And they cowered beneath her fury, like frightened animals!
There was nowhere to hide, for it was her kingdom…
She knew every nook and cranny…they could not escape her wrath!
And she raged at them, showing them the mercy they’d shown her!
Until one day she sighed, scanning her magnificent kingdom.
All was quiet, and the air was clean and pure,
And the rivers and streams ran clear,
And the ocean reflected the brilliant blue sky,
And there wasn’t a sign of the terrible blight,
For even as they had foolishly nearly destroyed her,
They had brought about their own demise!

Speaking so eloquently of the rage and wrath of Mother Nature, I was captivated by your description of natures ravages on our land. So much here to think about and digest; a wonderful piece of talented work! Joy L. Hale

We truly seem hell-bent on doing just that these very sad days, and I fear that Mother's Wrath will only get much worse.

Oh Annabel, how deeply thought out and presented. We are having similar difficulties here two as our country is split in half by the Great Mississippi River. Thousanda are displaced with home and employment...

Be always safe,
Karen

You wrote this with passion and fervor. I don't think Mother Nature reasons things out, but that is my opinion. the poem is still lovely.

Wow, Anna! Great words here, and, sadly, so true... Except, I hope for the last two lines.
Your friend, Mark
