I’ve never seen your face; I haven’t heard your voice
Yet I’ll always remember you…
You were the men in uniforms of decency
Who wrapped your arms around nations
And led them out of oppression…
You were the women who cradled dying soldiers
With the loving arms of a mother
As if they were your own sons,
You were the men and women that protected me
Even though you didn’t know me.
You were soldiers that sacrificed everything
In the name of justice and freedom.
You gave your lives, the ultimate gift!
And I’ll always remember you…
You were laid to rest in foreign lands
Among strangers and friends...
Away from your families who wept in despair
For sons and daughters that’d never return…
You knew all too well the horrors of war,
The suffering and human misery, and yet
You willingly took a stand for freedom…
And I’ll always remember you!
You exemplify decency and humanity,
Your amazing strength and courage
In the face of evil and tyranny
Inspiration beyond imagination!
You are heroes every one,
And I’ll always remember you!

Your patriotic poem of rememberence brought tears to my eyes and a lump to my throat. Your powerful words flow beautifully from a quill of gold that is not only accurate in spirit and tone, but shows the true, tender heart of the writer. I will save this lovely poem to "remember." BRAVO!!!
