I wrote this after hearing about Russia and the child who asked his mother; " Are they going to kill us now?" Just devastated me.

Poem Artwork

Doom

Crows flying too low,
Wings stretched to breakage,
Limp feathers falling like rain,
No one sees the sun anymore…

Hot and smoky skies-
Air burning lungs,
To tired to breathe,

Ruin.
Desolation.
Hopeless dreams,
In the hearts of man.

With wings afire,
The angels came,
And plotted the doom of mankind,

But they were too late!
Bodies lay slain and ruined,
Eyes staring at an uncaring sky,
Bleeding hearts run dry!

Their blood lies screaming on the ground,
But there is no one left to hear the sound,
With wings afire the angels rose,
And returned home alone,

Mankind left to return to dust,
Too red clay that stained the ground,
And God wept with silver tears,
That turned the earth to rust…

your images have so much power, Reindeer. this poem captures the horror and the unfathomable sadness with a sense that something permanent is lost with each of these tragedies... Dawn

This is a truly penetrating metaphor for this human disaster that has been humanly wrought. I don't think that any of us can hear about the slaughter of innocents without something in us dying with them on the inside. It is as if we kill ourselves when we kill our own youth and "seed" - the senseless snuffing of life and potential... and the hope that goes with it. I seem to have died a myriad of deaths today as I have returned from holiday and read these blistering writes. They devastate me. Your last stanza is awesome: earth on the scrapheap - what an image. TY for your unique presentation of this disastrous scenario. Kate xx

This is so haunting and sad, this life
can be very sorrowful yet I believe that
happiness can exist for some, unfortunately
it may not exist in this life. Great write!

Very poignant, but out of so much bad, good does surface, the way the world rallies to Russia's needs, helping the folk in Sudan, and those that are caring and brave, fighting terrorism, so we can still live in the free world, there ios still so much good going on, but going un-noticed in the main...
