Photos by me. The one on the left was taken yesterday. Things around here should look like in the photo on the right. Nature has other things in mind I suppose. I've translated a couple of "haiku" into French. Love and peace to all of you.

Poem Artwork

Spring Haiku String

A ray of spring sun
Reaches deep beneath the snow
The brook awakens

Rayon de soleil
Traverse la neige épaisse
Le ruisseau s’éveille

There are flowers where
Yesterday there were snowdrifts
Spring is in the air

Voici le printemps
Il y a des fleurs où hier
On voyait la neige

Wild Easter lilies
A surprise along the path
Through cathedral woods

In the cloudless sky
Behold a herald of spring
The first tree swallow

Tiny white snowdrops
Nodding in the frigid wind
Waiting for spring sun

The marsh awakens
With the melting of the ice
A chorus of frogs

Soft pussy willows
Wave in the mild breeze of spring
Good-bye to winter

All along the eaves
The icicles start to weep
Stirred by the spring sun

With the rising sun
A lone swallow in the sky
Welcomes the springtime

Au soleil levant
Une seule hirondelle annonce
Le printemps venu

A glow in the east
As darkness falls an owl calls
Full spring moon rises

Une lueur à l’est
Au loin un hibou appelle
Pleine lune du printemps

Throughout blue darkness
Skeins of wild geese cross the stars
Harbingers of spring

Cherry blossom snow
Sweet petals fly in the breeze
Scented spring snowflakes

I like the cathedral woods scene, I like the balcony and deck, you have, I'd eat a Milky Way candy bar and a can of iced tea and I'd enjoy the river scene and the trees, Oh my, am I ever dreaming now = or imagining.

A wonderful epic of spring, very, very beautiful with a romantic frailty, like one caught in the gossamer net of a dream that is his life and that he must hold on to with all his power lest life becomes void.
Tu as touche mon coeur profondement.
Merci a toi,

Hey, Regis, keep that weather up there with you, we are getting spring like temps here, high 60's but with a hint of rain showers, though they are few & far between...anyway, no snow to be allowed below the Canadian/US border...take care of that will ya...? And your poem too was quite swell, as always...Ed

Dearest Reg
These haikus are truly superb! Artist, creative, and celebrating the ever-changing seasons! (Changing in ways we don't understand as per your photo ... although we understand the cause!!)

This one is among my favourites:
"Soft pussy willows
Wave in the mild breeze of spring
Good-bye to winter"
&
"Cherry blossom snow
Sweet petals fly in the breeze
Scented spring snowflakes"

They are all fantastic dear Regis, thank you!
And, thank you for translating my 'One Tree' haiku into French! I am deeply honoured, beyond words! I learnt French at high school but not too well... not even enough to translate my words. So, again, thank you deeply from my heart! Free feel to translate anytime!! :-)
Your grateful friend in Oz where winter is whispering release from intense heat! Love, Suzie :-D

These very lines give one an almost palpable sense of waking up to a brilliant spring morning and rejoicing in its wonder. Enjoyed the interworven stanzas in French; though it's been years since I've even attempted to speak it, I still like the music the language makes.

Daphne, the Greek name for the Goddess Laurel is smiling from the plant of inspiration and your poetic spring string of ku, Reg. Perhaps this explains why your muse whispered in your ear her conversation with the Tree Spirit of Nottingham Woods, where men smoke ancient clay pipes and tell tales peppered with fairies. Spring Haiku String climbs up the trellis, a stunning backdrop to the Den tonight, Regis. Blessed Be.

Oh beautiful Haiku, Regis! My favorite, "A glow in the East/As darkness falls an owl calls/Full spring moon rises". Why does everything sound better in French?...Yes winter is a stubborn one this year. We had a late snow in the mountains. The sun peeked out this morning but now is behind the clouds. Oh, there it is again. Seems winter and spring are playing cat and mouse. What joy when the sun will be warm on our faces from dawn to dusk...Thank you for this wonderful poetry...Love, Lin
