Hooray for the Pope 9/19/2006 3:04:37 AM
With all the hoopla around Pope Benedict's comments and the usual hysteria in the Muslim world, I'm wondering where the Christian response is? As a Christian (and a practicing Roman Catholic), I am outraged at the demonstrations, burning in effigies, and (in one case right here in the UK), outright calling for the Pope's death. Who the hell do these people think they are? Do they really believe they are above criticism? Why aren't Catholics taking to the streets in protest against the attacks on the Pope?
Christianity in general seems to be a target for attacks from just about everywhere these days, whether its from the political left who are pushing the homosexual agenda or from the Muslims who believe everybody who isn't a Muslim should be become one, pay tribute, or be killed. (If you don't believe that, read the Koran. It's all there.)
The Pope was quoting someone else from a long time ago and, as it happens, he was telling the truth about Islam. But, what I want to know is, where's the Christian, especially Catholic, outrage?
