I have been reading Orina Fallaci's book, The Rage and The Pride, a book which EVERYONE should read and soon. I remember her from the 1960s when she was anti-American, anti-Vietnam War, etc., etc. I couldn't stomach her as she was clearly a woman of the left (and I am not!) However, she has apparently seen the light and has become a staunch defender of Western civilization and believes the good ol' US of A is the leader in that department. Anyway, I "Googled" her the other day to find out more about her and read that she unfortunately died of cancer last September. I am truly sorry to hear that.
She is (was) one of the relatively few voices pointing out what is happening in Europe today, and that is the rapid growth of the Muslim population and what it portends for the future. The main point is that the various European governments are doing little or nothing as their cultures wane and head toward oblivion, replaced by a new culture that is illiberal and, for all intents and purposes, totalitarian. In fact, those who point this out are called "racist" and can even risk criminal prosecution for "denigrating Islam." (Nothing is said about the vile and vicious insults hurled toward Judaism and Chrisitianity on a daily basis in many of the mosques around the world, not to mention Arab and/or other Muslim newspapers, radio broadcasts, and websites.)
Muslim countries need to do things: 1 - stop this childish obsession with attacking Israel and pay attention to the plight of the masses in your own countries. Most Muslim countries are ruled by authoritarian governments. Many could be called failed states.
2 - Bring your medieval religion into the 21st Century. Purge yourselves of the radical imams and the madrassahs that teach violence and hatred toward anything that is not Islamic. And stop treating women like slaves.
If these things would happen (fat chance, right?), the Middle East, and the world, will be a much better place.
Anyway, RIP Oriana Fallaci. Buy and read her books.
