Sometimes writing is a lonely pursuit. Most of my friends don’t write, although they love to read my stuff. So what do you do when nobody really wants to talk about the highlights (and pitfalls) of writing? Sometimes writing is a lonely pursuit. Most of my friends don’t write, although they love to read my stuff. So what do you do when nobody really wants to talk about the highlights (and pitfalls) of writing?
Join some writing groups. Now I know a lot of you out there say you are not “group” kind of people but let’s be honest here- it’s not always easy to stay focused on writing, especially when you’re around people who just quite frankly would rather do things other than talk about it. It’s like when I’m playing with an idea in my head about a storyline and so I ask him what he thinks- and his only reply is that I’m blocking the TV screen. Not too much support there.
But groups offer that kind of support. Even on-line ones. Think about it. It’s a great way to get new ideas, promote your work, and even help others with their work- and what could be better than that?
I think it’s better than blocking the TV screen, don’t you?
