You know, the biggest problem we have when working towards a goal (and that includes writing) is that we tend to quit too soon- we give up too easily.
Attaining a goal means work, putting in your “all” but that brings the possibility of rejection- and that can be a big stumbling block. What if nobody likes what we’ve done? What happens then? Sometimes we can build that up in our minds so much that we stop- better to not finish something than to finish it and be ridiculed.
But what if we’re not ridiculed? Or even of we are, it’s a sure bet that some people will just not care for either us or what we do. So then why should we stop?
We shouldn’t because when we do we tell ourselves that we can’t do it- we’re just not up to the task. And once we think that, it will reflect itself in everything we do, so then we stop trying completely.
Better to keep going. Make adjustments if we feel it’s necessary but keep moving. Build up that feel of “I can do it” and let go of that feeling of “what if somebody doesn’t like it.
