Are you writing from the heart- or are you trying to force it?
Sometimes, no matter how much research you conduct on a subject for the writing you want to do, it just doesn’t “click” It feels wrong, or you feel like you’re struggling to get a storyline together, and even if you do, it just seems to fall flat. You sit there, wanting to write, feeling like you must write even… but nothing comes. You might have to switch horses midstream.
It happened to me. I was trying to write from a place that just didn’t feel right. Although I did extensive background research I just couldn’t put it together. I just sat there and stared.
So I started to ask myself just how much time I was willing to wait until the inspiration came. I decided I waited too long. I started to think about topics that interested me. Things I had personal experience with- and then a storyline started to form.
If you need to switch gears then do it. Write from your heart. It’s a better experience for you, and that surely will result in a better experience for your readers. Are you writing from the heart- or are you trying to force it?
