I think one of the major problems that we, as independent publishers, experience is that there is just so many things we don’t know. We want to reach out to get some answers, but where? Where can we get some free or low-cost guidance?
What I’ve been noticing is that many beginning authors visit various book fairs. I know I get a lot of questions when ever I’m at a book event. “Who did your cover artwork?” “Who designed your business cards?” “Who did your book trailer?”
This is a great place to get info, so bring a notebook along to take notes about the things you see. What looks like it might work for you? What absolutely is something you’d never do? And let’s face it, the more people you talk to the more exposure you get.
Everybody knows somebody else who may be able to help you.
Get out there, take notes, and ask away, because you could very well come away with some very valuable information.
