Hot Night 2/12/2007 11:42:25 AM
A burning question. No....the title is not what you think, but it made you look. I've wrote blogs in the past about some of the really stupid stuff that I do, and last night I was at it again. We have 3 computers, one in the kitchen, one in the dining room, and a laptop. My son was using the one in the kitchen, and my husband and I both wanted to do stuff online, so I offered to use the laptop. I usually use the one in the dining room and my husband will take the laptop, but he really doesn't like it too much as his fingers are just too big to navigate around the keyboard proficiently. Well, I'm being kind, his typing skills suck, so for him the bigger the keyboard the better (hehe). I was sitting on the couch in the living room with my laptop on my lap of all places. I had to plug it in as the battery, even at 100% power only gives me about 20 minutes. This laptop is only a year old and when I first bought it I would get about an hour on a fully charged battery. That didn't seem like a lot of time, but obviously I should be getting more than 20 minutes. The point is I need a new battery and I'm getting off track again. Okay, so I'm sitting there doing my thing (myspace) and start to feel rather warm. My legs were warm, but I knew that was from having the laptop on them. However, my lower back and butt area also felt rather odd and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why I felt so hot. Maybe it's a hot flash I thought, but no, I don't get hot flashes, and I'm hot at the wrong end. I then try adjusting myself and continue doing my thing, but the hot feeling won't go away. Then a television show I had watched a few months ago comes to mind and I start to freak a little. Oh my god, maybe I'm going to spontaneously combust??? Visions of these little piles of black charred stuff raced through my head. Now, this may seem funny, but I was really starting to believe that I was going to suddenly light up in a bright blue flame, and when my husband came into the room there would be nothing left of me but a little pile of black powder; and maybe a couple of small pieces of bone. I put my hand behind me to verify that I was indeed getting hot, and sure enough I was. I continued with my internet delights for probably another 45 minutes or so, and then decided I was going to stop because one; it was getting really late, and two; my butt felt like it was on fire. As it turns the power supply for my laptop, the little black box part, had got wedged behind the cushion that I was leaning against; hence the heat. I was so relieved to find out the source of my problem, and to know that I will be alive to continue to do stupid stuff and write about it.
