Another of My Wifes Adventures Like I said in an earlier blog, I'm really getting sick of the weather here. I decide that I'm not going to take any more and vow to get some sun, even if it is artificial. So I ask my daughter if she would like to go tanning with me. I've been having a direct debit from my bank account every month for the both of us since last autumn, which is really a big waste of money if you aren't using it. However, as much as I like to get a tan for the summer, I just don't want to overdo it and resemble a prune in a few years, so I only go for a few weeks every summer. There's something inherently unattractive about pasty white skin in revealing summer clothing. We both decide that a little bit of cooking would do us both good, physically and emotionally, so off we go, armed with our goggles and tanning "butter." I must say that lying in that tanning bed felt really, really good, although going outside afterward was a little bit of a shock to the system. I'm not used to tanning at this time of year, and it felt a little weird having to put on so much clothing afterwards. I'm used to putting on a pair of shorts, t-shirt and flip-flops when I'm done, not jeans and socks and shoes and coats and gloves etc., and all the lovely garments you need in winter. I'm sure the workers there were also cursing me. The shoes I had on have really deep grooves in them, which is honestly a good thing at this time of year. You don't want to be slipping and breaking bones at my age (hehe). Of course, deep grooves tend to trap snow, and said snow tends to melt when you go indoors, so by the time I have finished tanning and put back on my clothes, there is a small river on the floor of my tanning booth. I felt a little bit guilty just leaving it, but I completely forgot to bring my mop, so what was I going to do. I think they must watch the timers (if the place isn't busy) as in the past it seemed like I would just step out of the room and someone would appear with their bottles and cloths ready to clean up. When I was ready to leave, I listened at the door, and sensing the coast was clear, made a beeline outside before they could notice the water that I had left all over their floor. Oh well, such is life I guess.
