Sudden sickness of Mum:reading,writing and travel. I only have time to drop a few lines to everyone here. My wife Caroline had an emergency in Scotland. Her mum is awful ill, and I would really like you all to remember her in your prayers. Caroline is coming back July 17th then we all are getting prepared to go back to Scotland in August. I’ve just finished filling out the passport for my youngest son . Lately I have been busy reading and writing in no particular order. I suppose that most interesting lesson I have been learning from various authors is technique and plot. This spring and early summer I have been reading and writing my way through a novel that has taken some radical turns. First and foremost was the loss of major parts of it due to the destruction of a hard drive! Along with the crash of my hard drive went about twenty new poems. Its engrafted lines still remain wrapped in a Walmart bag waiting for a Hard drive rescue clinic to revive its burned out transistorized heart.! It’s wise to keep backups of your work. I have been reading plenty of books lately. Some of them include the Tolkien series, Harry Potter Series, Stephen King, Robert Ludlum, Leo Tolstoy. All are excellent books to read. One important lesson I 've learned from Stephen King is what I call refracting: reading and then taking some bit of a novels plot or character or setting to help feed your Muse. I love the ongoing references to Tolkien throughout Stephen Kings novels such as his Dark Tower series, “The Stand” and the latest I have read; “Insomnia”. Bye for now
