Picking The Next President 2/21/2007 12:12:29 PM
I past subject on Our Country being Logical Being too logical in advertising or politics can be a products death nell. Advertisers know that "It is a fact of life that we are influenced by our thinking by considerations that, logically , are besides the point'..." (Moore, 2007, p. 16).A political statement such as the picture of President Bush in our text book is a way people are fickle when it comes to being "subjective" to who they believe the greatest president is. Examine the greatest money-making enterprises in the world and you will find that being logical doesn't apply to the game of chance. Gamblers are the bread and butter of Vegas and New Orleans. Lottery is a game of chance that although the odds are great of losing, still the business side always turns a profit knowing people enjoy gambling. In the field of Stocks and bonds to believe that a certain business stock will perform well every year is naive, it like gambling is often pure speculation ! Finally we see in our textbook that talk shows rely on people being illogical, rather than using "basic critical thinking skills" (Moore, 2007, p.10).
