Accident Day 9/2/2007 11:49:28 AM
The closer we get to the vacation, the more accidents my wife has. This is her own words. Yesterday was accident day for me. I think I must be more nervous about traveling than I realize. Talk about being klutzy!!! The first "accident" happened when I was retrieving juice from the fridge. I grabbed the juice box, shut the drawer, went to stand up, and whack....the side of my face, right near my eye, into the corner of one of the shelves on the fridge door. I had to eat dinner with an ice bag stuck to my face...never an easy task. After dinner we were having a discussion about which of my cats have the fattest ass. I though Solomon, but my son thought Sasha. Anyway, I decided I would pick each of them up and see if I could judge which one was heaviest. I pick up Sasha and I don't know how she managed this, but she got one of her back claws stuck in my chest. Yes, I really mean stuck...like a fish hook would get stuck. Couldn't just scratch me now, could she? It was only for a few seconds, but I can say that it hurt like a you know what. My son, of course, found it quite hilarious. Now that I have finished with the ice bag on the face, I get the Q Tips and peroxide and start mopping the blood from my chest (okay, I'm exaggerating a little about the amount of blood). A little while later I'm walking down the hall upstairs and what do I do? Trip over the sewing machine power cord. That didn't really hurt per say, but you know how you feel when you trip. I have to look back accusingly at the cord like it somehow done it on purpose. If its any consolation, that stupid cord got my husband a little later on. I guess I should have moved it after I tripped (hehe). Next event that happened when I was sitting on the floor going through my list of stuff to pack. Don't know how I managed this, but I banged my elbow, right on the funny part, on the arm of the computer chair. The arm of my computer chair is really hard, not all soft and padded. About an hour later I was talking to my daughter on the phone, which is a cordless phone. I don't remember what I had in my other hand at the time, but as we finished our conversation and I went to put the cordless phone back on the base, I somehow managed to knock the base off the dresser and onto my bare foot. Doesn't sound like much, but feet are sensitive and it hurt like hell. Luckily the face thing didn't bruise, but the elbow and foot did a little...oh, and I have a hole in my chest. Maybe I should stay in bed until I leave on Wednesday?
