Okay, this is my first-ever blog entry (mark it: March 18, 2007). I've been part of AD for years, and haven't done much with it, so thought I'd give it a go. It's not that I'm lazy (far from it, actually, as my wife has to routinely chain me down to keep me from constantly running all over the place), but that I have lots of other things that bide for time, just like anyone else--including, like everyone else, here--WRITING time. But, when I went out to my "Hits" page just now, had seen the THOUSANDS of hits, it, well, blew me away. So, okay, I guess there ARE people out there taking a look at my stuff.

So, what have I been doing the past few years? Writing. I still hold a day job, so that gets in the way of the writing. ;-] Since joining AD I've written several novel manuscripts (mss; singular use is "ms"), though none have been yet picked up by the Big Dogs. I've written about why I think mass murders take place (using a paranormal take, of course), written about a JFK, a telephone psychic, and government remote viewers, and am currently working on a UFO/Air Force ms. I've also written about 8 short stories that got published, though many others hadn't. All of these are FICTION, I point out, except for the articles I wrote for a writers' group or two. All this can be found on my website. I write every day, even if it's just a couple minutes before running out to do something else.

I've also been part of the Pikes Peak Writers Conference (www.ppwc.net) since it's inception 15 years ago. Helping out in any way I can, timing speakers, moderating, shuttling agents and editors to and from the airport--and even presenting (last time two years ago). I delivered a few words at the passing of my writing Mentor, Moe Morris, in 2005 during a banquet. I love helping out, but the time demands for volunteering are high when you have a full-time day job and come home weary from it, get up at Oh-Dark-Thirty to write, and have a busy family life with people you love.

So, that basically brings you all up to date and the basic mechanics of living and working. Probably not much different than all those other blogs out there, but had to bring everyone up to date: no, I didn't just fall off the Earth, at least, not yet....

Currently, as I mentioned, I'm working on a UFO novel. So, maybe this will garner some interesting comments? Unfortunately, I've never seen a UFO or aliens--to my knowledge--but I do believe in them. Exactly what they are is a whole different story, and hence my novel ms's POV. As a kid I was VERY interested in them and read all the stuff I could grab and pay for through my allowance, but over time other things got in the way (college, Air Force, other employment), and I got away from it. The past few years I've gotten back into it, finally visited Roswell, NM, met and talked with Stanton Friedman (even read a couple of his works), and reimmersed myself into the literature (note to self: I should post my reading list on my site...). Read Strieber's Communion Books. Anyway, I'm trying to get that UFO Weltanschauung going again. It's fascinating and scary. Ripe for a novel, and I hope I can pull it off in as interesting a way as possible, and in a slightly different view--though I am, admittedly, not as well read in the UFO fiction arena. Most of it, frankly, just doesn't interest me, cause it seems to make them out to: 1) Dominate us, 2) Eat us; 3) Assimilate us. Personally, I feel if they were gonna off us or shove an apple in our mouths they would have done it July 5, 1947. But that's just my humble opinion. So, if anyone has some interesting UFO fiction titles out there that take a non-traditionalist stance, feel free to let me know--doesn't mean I'll get to it right away, but I'll keep it in my back pocket.

So, I think that's enough for now. Got other things to get to. I hope to keep up on this Blog thing, providing there's interest and I can provide something interesting to say. I think I've needed to re-immerse myself into the "attendee" experience, since I don't seem to be attracting any publishing houses with my work.
