In Memoriam: Robert F. Butts, Passed Away at 88 6/1/2008 6:52:59 PM
A friend of mine died last Monday. Rob Butts, husband to the previously deceased Jane Roberts (September 5, 1984), and later to Laurel Davies-Butts. Rob was also facilitator to the Seth Material (see links below). He died May 26, 2008. I’d known Rob through the works of his first wife, Jane, and through correspondence with him that began in the mid seventies. He even lent a quote to my Sleepwalkers novel, and one as-yet still-unpublished novel. We never met, though we did talk by phone several years ago. He was extremely gracious and giving. I know he had LOTS of correspondence to manage, yet he always managed to write back to me.
Rob and I began our correspondence when I was but a kid trying to contact Jane about her work. Jane had not been well at the time, if I remember right, so Rob had responded to my letter. How cool!, I’d thought as that kid, that some “famous person” had written back to me! After some span of time I wrote back, and we’ve been corresponding to each other ever since. My last letter to him had been two months ago. He always returned my letters, and we carried on some cool discussions and bounced ideas off each other (the last bout was about UFOs), and I am honored to have had him spend some of his hard-earned time responding to my missives. But the past year, especially the past some six months or so, I had a feeling something was wrong.
Since Rob’s death I’ve had Nebene, one of Rob’s previous lives from about A.D. 30, hammering through my mind. Nebene, Nebene, Nebene. I even looked up his mention in one of Jane’s books, Adventures In Consciousness, (the 1975 paperback), page 51. It discusses Rob manifesting information about Nebene to Sue Watkins, and Sue had been one of Nebene’s students, named Shirin. Shirin had broken some clay tablets back then because of something Nebene had said. Anyway, as I read through the passages, nothing came to mind as to WHY I’m still thinking about Nebene, Nebene, Nebene. Perhaps he’s uniting with Nebene, Nebene, Nebene, or righting some old issues. Maybe just assimilating Nebene, Nebene, Nebene. Don’t know, but do know can’t get his name out of my head!
Paul Helfrich, another corresponding friend of mine has created a real nice memoriam to Rob. Please check out its link, below. The first link below is the guest book for Rob.
I wish Laurel all the best and hope she bears up under his passing. No matter one’s beliefs about death, it can be quite a different thing to loose the physical presence of the one you love. I don’t know Laurel all that well, but I can only imagine it won’t be easy not having Rob around any more. I do hold the belief that Rob is now enjoying other adventures--and most likely already contacted Jane, to which I am sure she has much to tell him, and--I’m sure--Nebene.
Here’s to you, Rob! To a life well lived! I will be missing you.
