Think of any other word that strikes such startling images and has instant world-wide recognition. One Thomas Armstrong, of Earth Station Roswell Headquarters, told me that there are three words that are known the world over, and “Roswell” was one of them (wish I remembered the other two). This month marked the 60th anniversary of...”the incident.”
So, I’m a bit disappointed in myself that I missed the “Roswalien Experience 2007,” going on this very weekend, in Roswell, NM. It’s looking to be a busy summer, and it has already been for me, and I missed this event. Anyway (see links below), I happened upon the stories linked below, today, and it reminded me of my trip there in March of last year. The MSNBC link has some good interviews, and even talks with Thomas Armstrong and Gene Frazier, among others, who have been pushing for creation of Earth Station Roswell. Tom spent a lot of time talking with me last year when I wandered into his two side-by-side stores on Main Street, and I even wrote and pedaled an article on their Earth Station, but no one was interested (I still have it if any credible media IS interested). I also talked with several store owners, and, as the MSNBC article states, yes, opinion is divided. There are many who worry about their loss of income if the museum moves those handful of blocks north, and the loss of “small townism,” but as I’ve always maintained, if the community works TOGETHER on this there is a way for everyone to gain--and not only monetarily. This is the MECCA of flying saucers. No one other place on the planet has the existing recognition Roswell has. It is the right place to have any such thing that discusses and displays this phenomena. And, take it from me (and this is not meant as a slam to those who live there), there really isn’t much of anything else there, if you go to see the UFO material. Roswell needs more than just a draw--it needs sustainment. Something to not only pull in the visitors, but to keep them there. The phenomenon has outgrown Roswell’s ability to hide from the world. It has taken on new life, and it needs to be fed. I’m all for “small town,” but this UFO experience is bigger than anything that small town could have ever foreseen. It’s just the way it is, and everything happens for a reason, in my humble opinion. You also can’t please everyone. So, given the ready made reputation and museum, something else needs to happen there, and I feel Tom and Gene’s proposed resort center, and another party’s amusement park, are perfect.
Do I believe something happened there? UFOs, alien bodes, cover ups, the works? I do. Look, you had military members say and do things they later retracted. Come on, think about it--would they have retracted what they’d said and gone silent for no reason? Read the evidence. Listen to those who were there--in the military. Is it really such a leap that there COULD BE other lifeforms/consciousnesses out there?
Well, that’s the whole point. Make up your own mind; it certainly makes for some fascinating conversation and contemplation. And, if you don’t think so, you simply haven’t watched enough Sci-Fi Channel.
