Life Lessons For Little Ones 9/25/2009 9:21:00 AM
Parenting never stops they just get older. Sometimes they listen sometimes they don't. I have not written anything for a while, because I could not think of what to write. My daughter called and said I don't want to put you or dad out any, but could you come half way to here to pick up my dog. I had always told her not to get a dog, because she did not have the time to spend with it that it needs. She called the night before we left in April to visit her and she said, that just so you know mom I am test driving a dog for two weeks. I about died, she said that he sleeps all of the time, does not chew on things, and that he is not like other dogs. When we got there she was right. He was only eight weeks old and could not keep his balance some of the time because he was such a baby. Now my daughter is an inteligent person most of the time, but for some reason pets and her do not click. Even though her mother told her not to get a pet, she didn't think I knew what I was talking about. She started out with a parakeet. It made too much of a mess below its cage. Then she tried a cat. She named him Oliver, but he ran around all night and liked to sleep on her head. So then she gets this sweet little puppy that she named Tucker. Well he grew up, and ate her apartment. When we left from visiting her my husband told her that if she decided to get rid of him to call and we would come pick him up. Well he chewed the legs on my grandmother's desk, the leg of the table and one leg of the chair of the dinette set our friends gave her that they had used. He chewed on the cedar chest of my mothers and the woodwork of the apartment. Tucker is part lab, chow, and golden retriever mix. He has to be a good dog, because of the hours he was alone in that apartment. Tomorrow we will leave to go and get him in Missouri. I made reservations for tomorrow night. Our daughter said can I, I knew what she was going to say. I said I am trying to get to that. Do you want to stay with us and you and dad can go swim in the pool and I will bond with Tucker and we will all be with him so that he can get used to us. We will all leave Sunday morning. She says Oh mom I feel so good about this. I am about to become a mother to another four legged child. We have told Scout that he is getting a big brother, and he seems happy with that he will be two on Oct. 7th. I knew what this would turn out to be if it ever got started, but Tucker will fit right in with our family, and my daughter will drive home for Thanksgiving to see all of us. Life changes all of the time, but you just have to go with the flow. Lori
