How an author approaches his/her writing as a reader Do you, as an author, work to satisfy readers or to satisfy yourself as a creator? There is a third, intriguing possibility: Do you distance yourself and work to be a satisfied reader of your writing?
For me, there is real joy reading back on my writing, not as an editor or a critic but as a reader, about the characters, the places, the situations, seeing how the story and stories unfold, who wins and who loses.
Does that make me arrogant or narcissistic? I think not.
When immersed in putting a chapter together I often can't wait to get it down on paper, especially one that unfolds as it goes along connected not by pre-ordained dots (though such chapters, too have their merits) but by streaming of mind and imagination.
Is this perhaps what drives all writers, to create and to feel, to cry and laugh in touching emotions inside and described in a way to make not only others experience such emotions but themselves as well by disassociation that can make their creation a story to be enjoyed as well as a manuscript to be sold?
