A story of make-believe, or is it? The children have been especially happy of late, ever since their leader Lucky returned from a well-deserved vacation that has him as full of p & v as ever. He particularly is enjoying needling the children's father whom he refuses to acknowledge as being any relation, and indeed maintains the children were raised by a stalwart single mother.
Of course the children run to family matriarch the Bee and ask if what Lucky is saying is true and she sweetly shakes her furry head and then goes back to sleep. And yet she doesn't mind when they return and say "we believe you, Lucky" and are rewarded by him with candy bars and ice creams. What is especially wonderful about the children is that they are free from malice or worry or fear and know Lucky is just teasing them about their father. The children are happy to sing songs and dance and hold hands and sleep close at night. Every day is a happy one for them, Lucky bestowing treats and the Moth taking them on rides to and fro and the Bee always there for sage advice and to join in the frivolity.
Were it all ever thus like it is with these sweet children and Lucky's domain and the Bee's nurturing.
