Tears At Sea

Bright sun
Salt in the air
Warm is the sea breeze
That caresses my face
Amid the nowhere
Of an open sea.

An object
My mind brings in sight to me
Floating aimlessly nearby
I thought it to be
A buoy at sea.

When neared
"Twas a blinding white
Bloated carcuss
Of A majestic sea turtle
Her black shell, still in tack
That's the fact.

The unsavory sight
Caused me to look away
From her decay
As I, silently prayed.

Look what they done
To my song, Mom
Look what they done
To my song.

I viewed troubled waters
Not of oil slick
At sea
But of tearful garbage spills
At the open ocean
I now see.

How many more creatures
Will go by the way
Of that sea turtle
My eyes caught sight of
Today.

Look what they done
To my song, Mom
Look what they done
To my song.

A moving poem, William. Your imagery is clear; your words motivate. ~~Nordette

Sad truth, William. Humans seem bent of destroying themselves. Too bad they're (we're) destroying a gem of a planet in the process. Thank you for this. Love and peace.

Dear William,

The same song is in all of our hearts and the tears belong to many.

I would love to say that I am holy enough to be able to point fingers at those who destroy our planet, but I am part of the problem, also. I use more water than I need to, I run nasty chemicals down the drain, I drive everywhere I wish, destroying the air and wasting away precious oil. I leave Christmas lights on all night long to adorn my home. I make more garbage than I need to and I am wasteful in so many ways. It is a not necessarily a good thing to live in a land of plenty; it allows us to lose track of those things which are so easily destroyed by our excesses and then gone forever, as well as allowing us to forget that Man is no more important than the rest of the creatures, water, air and foliage that grace this planet. Heartwrenching write, William.
Take care,
Sherry

I sadly fear far too many, William - and it truly is extremely sad what we human beings are doing to our own world, and what we will leave to our offspring.

It's so sad that man has so little respect for nature. Excellent write.

Like the way you put that old school song lyric in there. (Whoops, telling my age with that remark!) Your appreciation of nature is very eminent in this poem.

Yes William they are doing it everywhere and the sea is becoming a harsh place for all the beautiful life God created it for.I've read and heard some horror stoies about the sea that I can't even let myself think of. Excellent poem! We need to pray more!

Love,
Eileen

William,

Tears at sea, tears on dry land...this one hurt.

Look what they've done
to my song, Mama,

to my song ...

will stick with me for a long time. Thank you--POWERFUL!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
