A Mockingbird
(A Repost)
2/19/08
~~*~~

Today, I saw a Mockingbird,
It, broke my heart,
She will, never soar again,
From her perch, she'll never part.

Deep inside, my soul aches,
For that Mockingbird,
Will sing no more,
Her songs, won't greet,
My mornings, ever so sweet.

Today, I saw, A Mockingbird,
She laid still,
On a bed, of lovely flowers,
Breathe again, she never will.

The songs, she sang
Were like a symphony,
That filled the morning air,
As I walked today,
silence was there.

I was, deeply sadden,
My heart ached,
And my soul silent,
For today,
I saw, A dead Mockingbird.

Beautiful poem, William. Another Mockingbird poem I think you'd like is "Bird Song at Mourning" by Leo Durrant. --Charlie

great poetic appreciation of nature william, I'm the same way, I love to see the big Canadian geese flying in formation, and the little ducks wobbling around. Taking a walk in the woods in the summer and hearing all the birds sing does something for the heart and soul. The animals seem to play like there's no tomorrow. I don't like pigeons because of how nasty they can do you roof. But I watch them fly in circles going nowhere just simply enjoying their wings, I always tell my wife, look at those dumb birds flying in a circle like crazy, going nowhere. Then I join in by using the same principle, enjoying what God has given me, I get to having some fun, smiling, laughing and dancing. When my wife and I go out the little kid in me takes the steering wheel but he knows not to be taking us anywhere theres stupidity or trouble, just good clean fun

...when music has gone silent...so does life...as a birds wing...without movement...becomes a symphony lost.

I can recall reading a book about Killing a Mockingbird but I don't recall reading about feathers....oh well!!!
The dead of anything for no apparent reasons seems an insult to the Creation of Life...

A beautiful, territorial bird. As Karla stated, our Texas State Bird that warbles many sweet songs. I concur with your sadness on seeing the dead Mockingbird; yet, this is a beauty of a poem, William, that reveals your deeply caring heart.

I miss the songs of the Mockingbird. They have a repetiore of about 40 different songbirds and they use them all as a mating call. I know how it feels to miss the lilt of a Mockingbird. If there are any in Florida they aren't from around here. Just the beauty of the stilted birds and they have one thing in common...they sound like an old crabby man.

Blessings and love,
Susan

:( This is a sad one, William, I saw a happy Mockingbird - singing its little heart out - leaping when it hit a really high note - I love Mockingbirds. Did you know they're Texas' State Bird? An excellent poem, but like I said, sad ... well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
