I wrote this because I wondered about the U.S. soldier they found recently floating in the river in Iraq. Just wondered and hoped he died fighting. My struggle hear at home in no way matched his. I salute all of our soldiers, policemen and firemen on this Memorial day. I survived to relive my near death dilemma over and over again in my dreams.

Darn, the rest are all dead,
I've got to run and shoot or
end up blood stained red!
Maybe I can make it to the river,
Oh chit, I've been hit,
seems like this is it.
Here they come,
good, I got another one!
That makes two,
oh gee that hurt real bad,
the bullet went all the way through.

Mom, I love youuuuuuuuuuuuu!

++++++++++++++

Hey, kick the American pig
in the river,
but first remove all his gold and silver.

++++++++++++++

Well, face down I float,
in this bloody river remote.
I can't turn back now,
a few more days I would have been eating
memorial day chow.
Instead I float with the fish,
while my family worry and wish.

Wish that I return home alive,
but I'll never arrive.
By the time they get the bad news,
I'll be different color black and blues.
See ya my loyal God given body,
at least I died truly somebody.
A U.S. soldier in the terrorism fight,
and I truly feel I was doing right.

My earthly battle has ended,
my soul will now float on
to where God has it intended.

Hopefully it will be heaven.

For these service men and women have sacrificed much for our freedoms that we all know here and in free countries around this world. Chosen pathed and lessons complete most certainly glad to go home. Good write. Lady J

Nice to put oneself in the place of a soldier, any soldier, in the battlefield; it puts something in the soul, perhaps a flicker of understanding of why they are there, like a wall taking the hits from the stormy sea and stopping it to overflow your land.

A fitting poem for Memorial Day--these boys are so brave and put up with so many hardships for us, as do their families. God bless them, and help us to support them with prayers and encouragement!
Well-written!
