We are fed up with war. Somalia's war with itself has ended long ago but the war didn't come to an end. Every night we are receiving mortar attacks from unknown bases which kill and wound civilians. "Which area shall tonight receive the rocket bonus?" is the common street talk of this city of madness. Last night I was awakened by the sound of heavy artillery attacks on an area not too far away from my residence. If I don't post or just disappear you can bet that I was killed in one of these attacks. But pray for me that such a thing would not happen to me. My family needs me and above all my country needs me, too.
Every place
Almost every space
Of this anarchic city
Is filled by chaos
War is raging on
But somewhere
Within the ramparts
Of its bullet-scarred walls
There is a ray of peace
The song of a bird
Wades into the air
Injecting hope into hearts
Ripped off by the sound
Of mortars attacks
Indiscriminately landing on
Residential areas
Killing
INNOCENT
UNARMED
AND DEFENSELESS
CIVILIANS
Are we becoming a new Iraq
Or are we the Afghanistan in the Horn?
Is Somalia a new front of the war on terror?
After all whose war are we fighting?
Crazy way to exist my friend. We Americans take too much for granted. After reading about your dilemma, mine seems very small, anyway hang in there, and you have my prayers

A good question Adbi-noor. The people who do the dying are rarely the ones who start the wars. I pray that God will keep you safe and bring peace to your land.

What is happening in Somalia is a disaster. Developed countries are sponsoring war in Somalia. They never cared about Somalia when Somalis were in civil-war=. When they made a determination by forming the Union of Islamic Courts, the world decided that Somalia does not need peace. They sponsored Ethiopia, worlords led by Abdullahi Yusuf and lawlessness. This is really sad. The fruits of this scheme is more choas in Somalia and more territory for international terrorism.
We are praying for you, Abdi-Noor, and for your family and country! I pray that that ray of hope, bursts into glorious arrays of sunlight! Continue to write, report and encourage! Blessings!
Wars should be waged army on army not against civilians, but of course, that is not how it ever really happens. Somalia is fighting two wars, the wars between its own factions and the one that comes from outside. Not much is said about Somalia in the arena of the terrorist wars, other than there are supposedly terrorist pockets there. We never hear about Somalia being a target, though I believe you when you say that you are. Somalia is critically wounded and if she is ever going to be strong enough to force out the terrorists who are there, she is going to need help to recover, not artillery fire. I keep you and your family in my prayers, daily, Abdi Noor.

Abdi-Noor, believe me, you have so many friends around the world, who pray for you and for your country. The innocents do not deserve this; the rest of the world must stand up to the warlords and arms traders who grow fat on the blood of your people. Stand firm, my friend, my brother; there must be a way for peace to come.
