Bullets ricocheted
Smoke billowed high
Up in the dry air
I see rising fireballs
This is hell living in hell
It is hell Dying in hell
It is a history
Living in history
it is a history
Dying in history
It is a living piece
Of a living war museum
If I rule this nation
I shall rebuild it
With love buried
Under the rubble
Of a failed state

I cannot say whether to be thankful I have not lived in the hell of a war zone, or to be horrified a gentle and wonderful man such as you, along with the thousands of women and children in Mogadishu and Somalia (and Sudan and all hell spots in the world).
Maybe both; please keep reminding us of your pain and stir us not to rest until all your people find peace.
Somalia is in the news a lot lately Abdi Noor, and it sounds like a very bad situation. I pray you and your family and countrymen will be safe. I hope there will be a solution soon!
A living war museum is a very powerfully sad poem. The situation in Somalia is terrible: Endless war, killing, chaos, instability and lawlessness. It is just like living in hell for so long. The fact that we do not have a single visionary leader adds to the problem. It is everlasting. We have had enough of it. Somalis are suffering in all parts of the world. As I write this, I am from work. I was interpreting for a disabled, helpless, elderly Somali man who lives alone in this city. The social worker cried when she saw the mess in his home and the evident poverty in his home. That happens to someone in America- The land of opportunity. What do you think of the ones in Somalia. Enough is enough.
Thank you for warming my heart all the time.

Thank you Brother Abdinoor for this beautiful piece.
The sadness as well as the determination in your heart echoes through each line of this poem, Abdi-Noor. One would think that war would be contrary to the soul of mankind, but it seems that our world has never been without conflict. I wish that I had a magic stick that I could wave that would turn all of mankind against hatred and open all to the love that would heal our planet. Alas...I have no magic stick and mankind remains unhealed. Keep safe, my friend.
Take care,
Sherry
