Abdi-Noor, You carry a large piece of your country and people in your hearts. A refugee camp is never home; though your family will be (God willing) safe from bullets, to make friends and be a community will be hard.

You are in my heart, my friend; if I could change the hard-hearted government here to accept wonderful people like you, what a gift to my country; though what a loss for Somalia.

Dissolve the barriers; you are a citizen of the world, and of heaven. Greet your family warmly for me, for all of your friends here; God willing, one day that we would meet under a sunset, to eat a meal (halal of course!) and reflect on the beauty of life, even with its horrors.

1. Huriya means Freedom in Somali and Arabic! Tell her she will be free from the sound of morters/bullets and the fear thereof. Although life in a refugee camp is far from perfet, she will live in relative peace.
2. Tell her that you are going to a place where there are reliable schools for her and her siblings. As soon as she gets to the camps, she will definitely learn the alphabets of more than three languages. I am sure of this because I lived in varios refugee camps. My first formal employment was at Hagadera Refugee Camp where I worked for CARE International as a Primary School Teacher. I was offered scholarship to sudy at the University of Nairobi. I am glad that I lived in a refugee camp soetie in my life. It is an experience that will help me for the rest of my life. I am sure Huriyo will not regret it.
3. Tell her that you love her, care for her, and want to be there for her. Kiss Huriyo for me.

Abdi Noor my heart aches for your plight. It is so difficult for children to understand. The best we can do is hug them show our love and tell them no matter where we go our love goes with us.Locations may change but not our feelings, it helps to let them know that.
