Like a synthetic fibre
They blend into a strand
But no longer remain fused
As each thread parts ways
United today, divided tomorrow
Within the realm of disintegration
They forge a facade of integration
Kissing and hugging in the exterior
While feeling extreme dislike inside
Bubbling in the wind with false agreements
But bursting in the air sooner than the ink dries
Associating in sham alliances of radicalism
But splitting disgracefully in the face of reality
They are the warlords of Somalia
"singing glory glory hallelujah -- while they try to sock it to you -- in the name of the Lord -- they tell you how to meditate -- and how to cheat your fate -- as they while away the hours -- in their ivory towers -- I'm talkin 'bout you and me now -- and the games people play -- every night and every day -- never saying what they mean -- never meaning what they say". Not verbatim, but very close to the lyrics of Joe South's song, "The Games People Play", performed in 1969. Abdi-Noor my friend, your words ring with the realization of man's inhumanity to his fellow man. So sad. So true. The Somali warlords as you characterize them, could be warlords, or politicians, anywhere on earth. For their are an abundant number of evil men who do not truly aspire to be kind to their fellow man, but falsely profess to have those aims. Your poetry is so prophetic, so alarmingly true. I wish that the reality of life on earth were not so. Bless you, and may peace find and enter your home, your heart forever. JMW
Somebody should find oil in Somalia, then you will see the stampede of American, Russian and Chinese people elbowing each other away trying to "help" your Nation, until then, crocodile tears and empty promises, sorry.
Sad reality shows this will never come to an end, will it. All the hopes, dreams and prayers just are unable to break the cycle of what began so long ago and it is truly such a shame. Yet, I pray in spite of....
