I truly WAS a clown for 17+ years (but NOT under the Big Top):)! Laughing is as good for me as it is for others :)!
*************************

Worked one long, hot summer under the Big Top
incognito, undercover, wore a mop!
Costume, brightly colored, went with shoes that flop!
All was going great till Ellie elephant plopped …
let the what not drop underneath the Big Top.
It was hot,
humid, STOP!
Not with MY mop!

The man on stilts made me an upside-down clown.
Used, overcome, I whiffed … became clown town-bound!
Costume, brightly colored, on the ground was found
I dove in the nearest lake jumping up, down--
too close when the elephant spiraled … profound!
Heavy, stunk,
Ellie’s spunk
was on MY mop!

No more summers undercover … I declare!
Why’d they have to use my funny yarn of hair?
Shouldn’t they put Ellie in some underwear?
Had to shuck it all and did the people stare!
Ellie drank up all the water; I was bare!
Wigged out,
freaked, pout…
mop’s ‘you-know-wear!’

I think I saw you that day... sort of confused? Sort of worn out and put away wet?
