Give a fig for the sap you love,
move the trough so his leaves can drink
(when he doesn’t drink, rots and stinks).
Syrup on the maple tree ran off
and onto a nut, funny farm.
Most nuts wouldn’t do any harm.

Sap saw a chance to go hog wild--
sows tickled and prickled his feet,
swam upstream, catfish licked … sweet.
Hook, link and sinker, the catfish
jumped, splashed a rooster and chicken.
Chick laid, eggsactly a dozen.

Sap got a Cow lender’s number;
munched on a pound of cheese, drank milk,
till caught in a web, draped in silk.
Bee-nipped spider, flew to a tree …
again … sap dripped, tickling me.
