Bra Hoppers

A most unique insect thrives in the 'hills' of Kentucky.

In Kentucky’s heart there’s strange creatures
with quite a feature . . .
it’s the bra hopper. With fuzzy feelers
they arouse gals--
this bug and all his pals--there’s no cure, stopper.
They pounce on honey’s
with raisins or jugs and tug on their plugs--
there they hang, slobber.
Tiny brown noses with mouths over wide,
they ‘hop,’ go inside--
leave gals aflutter. Girls from out-of-state
wander on bluegrass
to catch some plucky Kentuck bra hoppers.
Ugly as they are
eyes bulging, a frightful sight they give ecstasy, delight . . .
welcome bra hoppers.
Kentucky women--bra hoppers don’t dread--
they’re breathless, near dead,
their teeth out, fallen, they merely latch on
where others dare trod . . .
giving the hostesses bods . . . tantalizing ‘floppers’.

Some folks are sighing for, praying forevermore
for endangered species
(like Kentuck’s bra hoppers). Their legacy--humongous jugs!
