Hysterectomy Historicity

My doctor was two hours late, I was in pain BEFORE surgery (my left arm) and remained in pain, they never answered my button--pushed a dozen times (wasn't plugged in) before I did an Exorcist spew-about (they never closed the curtains), had to shower and the janitor threw open the door -- again exposing me to those in the hall! My doctor said at least I had no hysterectomy pain! This really happened and now I can laugh about it :)!

Checked in for my surgery
but the doctor forgot me;
wasn’t on his calendar.
He was called, came—finally;
then they started the I.V.
I complained of I.V. pain
(they seemed to think me insane).
The surgery went quite well
but then my arm began to swell.
Didn’t have time for a pail;
I spewed on the bed, the walls
but no one answered my calls.
(My button wasn’t plugged in.)
They stripped the curtains, me, sheets;
visible from halls, the streets.
My arm kept getting larger
and my fingers stiff, harder.
They kept me on the I.V.
Took a shower, had no choice.
A man knocked, hearing no voice
entered, me naked, we screamed.
He was cleaning up . . . it seemed.
I was finished with this place
and demanded to go home—
called the doctor on the phone.
Once home, couldn’t move my arm;
suspected clots, we were alarmed,
I went to emergency
where they treated me for free—
traced it back to that I.V.

Oh my goodness Sandra this may really be something to laugh about now but at the time it could have been really REALLY serious!!!! Working in the medical profession for over 15 years it sounds like you had one heck of a really bad reaction to the IV either from it not being put in properly, allergic reaction to needle or other connective device or just a bad IV site!!!! Ohhhh Grrrrrrrrrrrr I would have been ready to sue and kill! :O(

Ok enough of my spouting off here...this really is a absolute great write!

((((Hugs))))
