Gimme New Bones

Ev’ry now and then bones pop, squeak, turn in,
muscles get twisted, arthritis visits …
aches, baby, burn.
Brittle are the skinny, creaking, old bones
holding up the rag men and the old crones.
Jimmety-jacking
these old bones are cracking.
Please, Mr. Jones, give me new bones!
He’s the skeletal man,
he can move. Yes, he can!
Jimmety-jacking
these old bones are cracking.
Please, Mr. Jones, give me new bones!
Bent, I declare, can’t shimmy under there!
My fingers are crooked, my legs splay out …
aches, baby, burn.
Joints are weary, they’ve done double duty.
Try as you might, I can’t see any beauty.
Jimmety-jacking
these old bones are cracking.
Please, Mr. Jones, give me new bones!
He’s the skeletal man,
he can move. Yes, he can!
Jimmety-jacking
these old bones are cracking.
Please, Mr. Jones, give me new bones!
Do I have to be reborn to get new bones?
Please, won’t you tell me … my dear Mr. Jones …
aches, baby, burn!
I want to walk to Heaven on two legs.
At this rate you better give me wooden pegs.
Jimmety-jacking
these old bones are cracking.
Please, Mr. Jones, give me new bones!
He’s the skeletal man,
he can move. Yes, he can!
Jimmety-jacking
these old bones are cracking.
Please, Mr. Jones, give me new bones!
Please, Mr. Jones?
……… Please?
