Fallen leaves,
A mystery weaves.
No road left taken,
All is forsaken.
Broken chances,
No more circumstances.
No possibility to redeem,
A life ripped at the seams.
They bleed their color and dry,
They die, no one can say why.
Fallen branches, none to spare.
The lifeless twigs lie everywhere.
They have finally broken asunder.
They have now lost their thunder.
The life that was once dwindling,
Has now for the world become kindling.
The bark scent still an unguent,
The inner sap still pungent.
They have lived for a thousand years,
When they die, no one sheds any tears.

For some reason, my mind seems to think that that second line should read, "No road left [un]taken."
