Natures Wraith Passed

A Nature write, for a change...

Nature’s Wraith Passed…

Coldest weather has passed,

No more shivering & complaining,

The Canadian highs no longer do blast,

The northeastern United States with Mother Nature’s wraith…

Just cool enough at night, to sleep under the electric blanket,

Even if it were not, I love that blankie so, to sleep under it I do go,

Boats being launched; yes put into the water,

Fishermen tuning up their poles and cleaning their tackle,

The summer is not too far away, only right around the corner…

Now that it is mostly past, I know that I will miss,

The colder temps, the snow, the whole list,

But fully realize that next year it will return,

There and again, I will look forward to it till then…

But more cold weather poems will be written,

More complaints about the snow & slush,

More whining I am sure, about that which we should hush,

More bitching too, as I am certain, we really must…

For now the poems will be blooming, like that of the flowers & trees,

And I have high hopes that I will get to see, not too far away,

Those flowers spoken of and smell the scent upon the breeze…

Ah, nature will surely return--if not, then we must get concerned. The change of the seasons is refreshing, no doubt. It's wonderful to see. Thanks for the reminder . . . b

Ed;

An electric blankie? I hope you're not sleeping on a water bed. Nice thoughts here about ambivalent seasonal feelings. Must say though the only one I long for is an eternal autumn.

Yep, Ed.. I'm done with winter and winter is done with me.. the sun was blasting through the window yesterday a.m. and I trotted off to work in short pants and sandals... THE SUN LIED! It was freezing out! Soooo.. today, I ignored the bright sunlight, wore sweat pants, long0sleeved shirt, thick socks and my beloved tennies.. DON'T ASK! 70 degrees and I'm fanning myself all day. sigh... now I remember, it's springtime when my mom always remarked "gosh, you just never know what to wear, do you?"... (grin). Just stick your toes under Rufuz.. that oughtta do it! byeeeeee katy xox.
