To Stare at a Tree…
Have you just sat and stared at a tree?
The subtle nuances,
The form and function of each and every one,
Each tree is the same, and then again they are not,
Each tree does remain; they have been there longer than our lot…
One tree may look like that of a son,
While the next may look like that of a mother,
Shading that of the smaller trees around her,
In reality hoarding the water from rain, for herself…
One seems to lament,
While the next seems to celebrate life,
Then the next, poor thing, surrounded in cement,
Hey, just go into your backyard, your park or forest primeval,
There you will find many trees to hug, to love and to stare at,
Do you think, in their own way they are staring back at us?
Evaluating us as I just did to them, wouldn’t that be interesting,
Wouldn’t it be something to hear what they say…?
“What’s that man about to do anyway?”
“He is giving me a hug, pouring water on my roots, oh that feels good!”
“Here comes that guy with the sharp thing, wanna run away, don’t want to be cut back!”
“I want to grow, and grow till I reach the sky, “
“Able to touch angels wings as they fly on by,”
“I can also feel the touch of God’s hand, on my heart and soul!”
“So I am a tree, I still have both of those…”
