In Standard “V” Formation…

Over they do fly,

No bombs do they drop,

Even if they did we couldn’t them stop,

All we could do is sit and question why…

Brown are some,

Then the blacks do come,

All with different markings,

Their flag of white,

Under their wings, where have they come from…?

Their sound heard from off quite far,

Flying in daylight and amongst the stars,

From north to south they do creep along,

These great birds of the heavens,

Their wing span so wide,

Their necks so very long…

Honking like cars on a busy freeway,

So bird watchers of all ages can hear,

The geese formation is coming so near…

Another excellent nature write, my friend. I often stand gazing up at them as they fly and honk by, and I usually wonder how the leader became the leader, and how and why the rest of them follow him like clockwork.
