They are in this picture but I doubt you'll see them with the pic being shrunk down by the AD editor...

Just breaking the surface, A hundred yards offshore, Following a school of feeder fish, Never to watch them a bore… When they come in closer, The lifeguards hurry us out, They don’t want us to coexist, They won’t allow us to together have a bout… I know they can be dangerous, A hip or leg they can break, Not that they would mean it, Still to swim with them, Would of my day quite nicely make…

ED ... years ago, last time i was . Sea Isle City, saw several Dorsal fins offshore ...

ran to Lifeguard to Warn ... he laughed, and said: "It's just Dolphins!'

I know they're out there, Ed, because I've sat and watched them
many times frolicking off the Jersey Shore. -gene.

I see them, specks that they are. Never heard of lifeguards kicking folks out of the water for porpoises. Must be the Jersey ones are mean, pay me a fish or I'll break a knee cap. Weird. Patrick

I would love to swim with that also. They are highly intelligent mamels living in the oceans, and sea's. Thanks for sharing this excellent writing, Ed.

Used to love watching the dolphins riding the crest of the waves out boat used to make out in the Gulf of Mexico. They would do some somersaults, showing out for us, I am convinced. Beautiful creatures.
