I experienced my first one in a bar out on the west coast when I was 25. I thought it was the End of the World, and the locals said: “That was just a baby earthquake, Dude!” But an east coast earthquake is extremely rare. Perhaps those ancient Mayans were right, after all. If you start having more, you better get ready for New Jersey to shake, rattle, and roll, and crumble right into the sea on 12-21-12.

And Hunker Down, Hurricane Irene is now headin your way. (Watch for many more of those until 12-21-12, as well.)

We had a 7.3 April, 2010, 19 miles southeast of Mexicali, about 40-50 miles away from us ... very freaky dude! I watched as my laptop started to dance right off the table. thankfully it was a deep earthquake (about 20 miles down they said) so the seismic waves weren't as devastating. Peace ... richard

Glad you are okay and survived a shaking and a quaking time.

I felt it here in Va. also. My first earthquake too and one I won't ever forget. It wasn't bad, just unnerving.

Felt it all the way down here in Belton, SC...friends from NC to Ga and SC are all talking about it...but it's not the first we have felt down here...have felt quite a few but all were really mild like todays...
