We had a lot of rain,
No wind to speak of,
It did go through like a fast train,
It’s actually above NY city, even already…
Here its calm, I thought it the eye,
But the radar says she is totally gone,
Inland she seems to have moved,
Still for New England will be rain,
Bet all those that ran away will cry…
Guess it is still good,
For those to get away,
It could have been much worse,
But for this storm, Irene turned out to be a tease,
Nothing was she but a twenty-four hour disease…
I don't live in that part of the country (thank goodness), but from I've heard from family and friends, it was far from nothing. Even my friend in New Jersey said it was 'something', you must have a magic barrier around you!

while damages & devastation were much less than anticipated -
I believe that the Coordination between all the Governors, Mayors, FEMA et cetera
wildly & smartly EXCEEDED the chaos of Katrina ...
ergo something was LEARNED! the Evacuations may well have saved THOUSANDS of lives? time will tell ...
Costs of losses will still be in the BILLIONS $ ... A Niece, my Daughter, a Sister-in-law all lost several Hundreds in SPOILED FOOD because of Power Outages ...
A Business owner friend has had no power . his establishment since Sat nite . 11pm ... not allowed by law to serve customers in any Bar Restaurant - still no power as of 8 pm tonite - he is HURTING!
Multiply These by ALL the businesses involved up & down the entire Coast -
Hotels, motels, dining, vacationing, rentals, et cetera ...
Wait til the MEDIA releases all these figures, and see what our Economy does!
NOSE-DIVE !!! while we all bid ADIEU to this BITCH - there is PLENTY OF ADO to
consider ...

P.S. But one of our author friends, John DeDakis, his son was not so fortunate, I don't know exactly what has happened, but you've got to see John's site in Facebook, I'm saddened for John's loss. :o(
