Be wary of the wind,
Especially if you have sinned...
Outside my bedroom window it moans,
Speaking to me in deep dark tones,
Bringing with it warmth from the south,
It has sharpened teeth within its mouth…
Yesterday it snowed with a fury,
So cold the wind, almost eerie,
It cut at me making my eyes bleary,
Out on its anger is still the jury…
I love the sound of the wind moaning outside my windows when it blows from the northeast along the mountain. It can be a bit lugubrious I will admit. Thank you for sharing, Ed. Love and peace,
I think you should "out that jury." ;-) I think you have described your situation very well in this little ditty. Like my uncle always said, if you don't like the weather, wait a couple of days. Another front will come through and the weather will drastically change.
Can you believe it? The ladies around me are complaining that it's "too hot," and wanting to turn on the air conditioning in the wintertime. I think it's just menopause.
Your description reminds me of the beginning scene of the movie "Dr Zhivago" where he is a young boy in a cold dark bedroom on a very windy, rainy & cold night outside with the wet tree branches eerily scraping against his window in the blackness. I believe his father has just died also. Great movie and book.

Good work, Ed. I enjoyed the poem's idea, the images, the rhymes and the tone. This is what a poem should be in my opinion. Some special touches as well, "sharpened teeth" ! Well done.
