Capacity to level all in its path,
Storm surge showing oceans wrath,
The storm forthcoming,
Should be quite numbing…
Actually Nature needs to these storms bring,
This is not just a yearly by Nature fling,
They do clean the air & the beaches,
And of humanity this storm teaches…

The governor has ordered everyone to evacuate. I remember well the panic over Ike here where everyone got on the road and got stuck in the heavy traffic. In Irma's case there are only two major interstate highways leading to the north and they are normally heavily traveled. To add the traffic of those evacuating, may leave many people stuck in cars, stuck on the freeway when the storm catches up with them along with thirst, starvation and high water.
Ah, nature. For every bit of beauty it provides, there is also destruction, but as you said, it has a purpose that we need to understand, and deal with.
I am based in Miami, although I don't live there. So, yes, I will be watching closely over the next couple of days from the dryness of the desert here. Close them shutters! Danger ahead. The poem pretty much explains why. John
